I wanted to send out a quick note of encouragement to the parents. Over the last two games, we've lost in pretty grand fashion. A combined score of 25-6. While it's fall baseball and very developmental, winning is still better than losing. I think its important to know that the last two teams we played are easily to the two most advanced in terms of skill, age, and size. It's always a mission to seek out good baseball and compete against the best. In that respect, I hope it was helpful in spite of a seemingly impossible opponent. A few positive takeaways. I thought our pitching was solid. Walks were few and far between. Our pitchers did a fantastic job holding runners on which was an area of opportunity coming off the previous game. I thought the bats were lively and active. Very few strikeouts. A lot of working counts and two strike contact. Balls were hit hard versus weak contact. Baserunning was aggressive and confident. Errors hurt us quite a bit but I want to be clear that several boys had outstanding defensive efforts yesterday. Jase, Ben, Nick, Jordan, Tyler, Devin all flashed some really good leather yesterday and/or played smart intellectual defensive baseball. My point is the best yet to come and we were a few plays away from keeping that game very close. Very similar to the game before where things just unraveled a bit defensively for us as well. This Saturday is against another Chamblee team. I know this team very well and am quite certain that we match up very well. As long as we play clean and smart, we can get back in the win column so let's get back to work Saturday. Have a fantastic rest of week!
