New Bat Rules

Upper League. Effective in 2012 GHSA and the NFHS have adopted new rules for bats that limit the bats that can be used. For more information click here . Fall will be the last season where the older rules were in effect at DSB. Families should only purchase new -3 bats that meet this newstandard.
Middle School and Spring/Fall Lower League. Bats are approved as follows:
  • Materials: wood, metal, composite materials marked with USSSA 2012 stamp or 1.15 BPF manufacturers stamp. Note 2012 will be the last year that unmarked metal bats will be allowed. Starting in 2013, a USSSA stamp will be required.
  • Size: -5 or higher for 8th graders, -8.5 -9 or higher for 7th graders. Note that -9 are being allowed because of greater availability and because this is the standard at NYO, where many of our Middle School players play.
