This 3 day camp will be a mix of instruction and drills. Clinic is aimed at players who have caught before and yearn to learn how to do it right. Sessions will be a mix of instruction and drills. Coaching ratio will be kept at 5:1. This camp has been designed for the serious and committed hard working middle school or high school player. Workouts will be high energy, high reps, and very engaging. Catching equipment and athletic cup required.

Lead Coach/Organizer: John Brown – has coached over 35 years (20 years in Atlanta and over 15 years in Northern California); his coaching has been at the REC level, REC all-star, travel ball, high school, collegiate summer wood bat league, and showcase environments. John has coached over 2000 games and enjoys connecting and training with hard working young players. Clinic will run 12 noon to 2 pm each day. In the event of bad weather, the makeup days will be Friday, December 29 and/or Saturday, December 30.

This clinic will provide high rep volume and fundamental defensive skill reinforcement and training. Training will include footwork on approaching the ball, positioning the body to field the ball in a fundamentally sound manner, fielding the ball in a manner that allows the player to be in an athletic position for transition for the IF or OF throw, reading and catching OF fly balls in a fundamentally correct position, and to do all of the above utilizing the best athletic movements possible for each player. We will utilize HACK ATTACK machines to maximize the volume and quality of batted ball for reps. Coaching ratio will be 5:1.

The purpose of this clinic will be to work, teach and train young players that enjoy and want to be a catcher. The clinic will include fundamental catching instruction including stance (signal, primary and secondary), receiving, blocking, footwork for catch and throw, catching arm slot mechanics for throwing. We will utilize the Hack Attack Jr. ball machine to provide reps while training the skills of receiving, blocking and catch & throw mechanics. Catching equipment and athletic cup required.
