The purpose of this clinic will be to work, teach and train young players that enjoy and want to be a catcher. The clinic will include fundamental catching instruction including stance (signal, primary and secondary), receiving, blocking, footwork for catch and throw, catching arm slot mechanics for throwing. We will utilize the Hack Attack Jr. ball machine to provide reps while training the skills of receiving, blocking and catch & throw mechanics. Catching equipment and athletic cup required.
Lead Coach/Organizer: John Brown – has coached over 35 years (20 years in Atlanta and over 15 years in Northern California); his coaching has been at the REC level, REC all-star, travel ball, high school, collegiate summer wood bat league, and showcase environments. John has coached over 2000 games and enjoys connecting and training with hard working young players. Additionally, he has helped place over 150 collegiate players: primarily at academically selective colleges and universities. John also served on the Board at SSYS for eight years and served as the liaison to Dunwoody Senior Baseball during his board tenure working closely with DSB on Middle School League scheduling and various projects. Clinic will run 10 am - 12 noon each day. In the event of bad weather, the makeup days will be Friday, December 29 and/or Saturday, December 30.
